Happy New Year!

Welcome to the first HFIA update of 2004.

To start the year we are focusing on lobbying Government around the world.

First, we start in Australia and New Zealand - the last remaining countries where hemp foods are still not legal for consumption. That's right! Spare a thought for your friends who cannot enjoy an organic dairy free Motherhemp Hemp Ice or Cool Hemp Ice Scream or a loaf of Sunnyvale Hemp Bread or a Nutiva hemp snack bar.

Hemp Foods Australia's new site has just been launched with heaps of ways you can help. You can contact the Ministers (State and Federal) or include yourself in the online secure petition or leave them a comment of support- or just tell them of the benefits you receive and they are missing!

Meanwhile Hemp Food Australia continues to grow hemp, press into oil, cake and sell within Australia. Click here for more info.

They plan for a new application this year and need as many signatories to their petition as possible.

Go there now- www.hempfoods.com.au

Also- a new book "Modern Introduction To Hemp" is the latest and greatest work from Paul Benhaim- includes the most up--to-date information on hemp from around the world, including pictures of European and Australian products and crops. Printed down under means prices are DOWN and available globally. Send to your local politician. Helps alleviate ignorance.

Industrial Hemp is now being grown in most states in Australia. Updates on WA legislation here

Next is the US of A. The fantastic ongoing work of the HIA and Votehemp continues. The DEA continue to spread absurd ideas as if they were living in a fantasy world. We say WAKE UP DEA!

A new contact able to assist with lobbying in the US could make the difference- you can help by recommending the HIA to them, read more at:

Help lobby the US now- a plea by the HIA

In Canada things seem to be moving on more positively, so not much to say here- just read up on the latest from the guys at the top:

Canadian Bill to amend Food and Drugs Act passed

In Europe- well you can grow hemp, eat hemp and enjoy an open market. So what are the results?

Hemp Plastics- yes- the first commercial product from hemp plastic is now available (if you had not already heard). The CD-tray is available for local musicians (500 units+), record labels (10,000 units+) and international music and promotional companies (100,000 units+). All the information is available at www.hempplastic.com

WATCH THEIR WEBSITE FOR A NEW HEMP PLASTIC MATERIAL - TOTALLY BIODEGRADEABLE - AVAILABLE SOON!

Just interested as a consumer- wanting to help- wanting to support the environment and own a piece of hemp plastic? Fields of Green is the ideal product- the first local CD to be packaged in the hemp plastic CD trays. Produced in cooperation with the Aboriginal people of Australia, using a 100% hemp didgerdioo. The music features harp, flute and angelic voices and suitable for meditation, relaxation, sleep and general de-stressing. A great gift too! Show you care and buy now direct from www.hempmusic.com
